OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
Talk to any of the Seng Girls about what they want to do in life, and almost all of them will first say, “I want to be a Dancer”. Naturally, such dreams are difficult to become reality when very few real opportunities exist for any girl to receive long term reward or income for their dancing interest. Well, all that is now looks possible for 12 lucky girls from the Seng Girls Home.
Thanks to national support from the Beijing Government to promote and encourage cultural preservation and history, millions of dollars are being invested throughout China to promote a cultural dance performance known as the King Gesar Opera. Thanks to their interest in dance and the significant efforts Dockpo and the team at LOVEQTRA have put into encouraging the girls to dance and perform, 12 girls have been awarded a government funded 3 year tuition scholarship at a prestigious dance and performance school. This is a wonderful honor and opportunity. Not only that, at completion of their 3 year scholarship program, these girls will start being trained to run and manage an office of the King Gesar Opera in a capital city. So, their future looks quite bright. We are excited about this. Congratulations LOVEQTRA, Dockpo, and the 12 girls, and our thanks to their sponsors who have made this possible.
Here’s how the funding works: The government is funding the tuition costs of this program. Captivating International has agreed to continue our support for the full living costs for each girl for a period of 12 months (until Aug 2015) until this new program gets better established. This equates to RMB450 per month per girl and is funded thanks to the amazing support received from the girls individual sponsors.
We look forward to sharing some progress stories on how this initiative progresses.
