It was so fantastic for Project Eden to finally get the chance to host Kellie and Kent Rinehart from Chevron a few weeks ago. Although several of the staff and some of the students had just left for Chinese New Year, the majority remained wanting to meet the Company that was doing so much to keep Project Eden running.
Kellie and Kent had a wonderful few hours going for a walk, inspecting the facility, talking to the girls, and enjoying a wonderful BBQ on top of the school building. Following the BBQ, the girls danced for the visitors to show their appreciation.
In talking with the one of the Directors (Cyndi – pictured far right in the picture above) she said that the children are doing well in their studies and, although finding it difficult, are making good progress. Their Chinese and English development is going really well, but math is something that challenges all of them as the foundations are not there. They are working hard to catch-up on so many years of lost education, and although it is long hours and difficult they are overall making great progress.
Kellie and Kent were thrilled to see happy, excited girls and also lots of laughter and determination. We all came away knowing that the team there at Project Eden have certainly created a safe and nurturing environment where the girls feel safe and loved.
