A Restaurant Owner in the Making

Womokyid, 29, lives in the province with her family and aging parents. When she was younger, her father had an accident at work leaving him unable to work. Because of this, Womokyid had to stop school so she can help her mother take care of her father and earn income for their family.

Now she has a family of her own. Her mother has been helping take care of the kids, her father, and the household while she and her husband are away for work. However, she knows that her mom is also aging. Her dream is to start a small restaurant business near their home so that she’ll be able to help take care of the family while also earning a stable income.

“I am very happy that in the four months of training, I have learned more than 30 dishes. Although I wasn’t able to finish school, I am glad to have attended the My First Job Assistant Chef Program and develop my confidence in cooking. I spend a lot of time practicing at home and send the dishes to my teacher, who has also been very helpful and responsive to our needs as his students.”

“I am deeply grateful both to my teacher and my sponsor. I have learned a lot and I promise to continue improving.”

Currently, Womokyid is working as an assistant chef in a local restaurant where she earns more than seven times of what she used to earn in the past. We are proud of Womokyid and wish her all the best for a better future – and maybe even a restaurant one day!
