What can we possibly say about ZURU TOYS that would be adequate in just a few sentences. Starting this year, ZURU fund 50% of the total budget of our Vocational School Scholarship Program, and MY FIRST JOB
We all know that true beauty is what lies below the surface of us all. But, lets face it, some people appear doubly blessed - both inside and out. Last week, our program manager (Carrie) and I had the pleasure of meeting this girl, along with multiple others from various locations of our Asia based Vocational School Scholarship program.
On the 2nd of April, 500 students, parents and teachers from the Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) walked 10km in just 2 hours to raise funds for Captivating. Together, they raised over RMB109,818. We think you are all amazing!
72 girls from various remote village locations of Western China are now back in school (and doing well) thanks to generous sponsors and a wonderful support charity called SHAMTSE. Each one of these girls had already dropped prematurely from school due to varying situations with all of them mourning the end of their dream of a higher education. Well, dreams can still come true it would seem.
53 girls have completed their first year back in school thanks to the incredible support of our global Captivating sponsorship family.
This month [July 2017], three girls from Project Eden who have been studying at the School of Electronics and Technology of Dongguan, have finished all their school-based courses and will be starting a one-year internship after this summer on-track to graduate in June 2018. Through the Captivating Project Eden schooling program, we have been thrilled to see their growth and development over the years thanks to lots of hard work by them, as well as amazing support from the team at Project Eden. Our thanks also to their dedicated sponsors and supporters, and of course Dockpo and the SGVTS team where the girls first got their chance at a new life several years ago now. We hope you enjoy Dechen's story:
At Captivating, we work mostly to create genuine options for single mothers and out-of-school girls. And right now, we need your help. Over the past few months, our project teams have identified over 60 girls from remote locations who dropped out of school more than a year ago.
