Manila Slum Project Extends Support to Young Moms
In Manila's busy streets, many children miss out on schooling. But there's hope as we work to change their story.
With the help of our field partner, HONOR 1000’s microfinance loan, Jemima was able to cement her store’s walls. This will protect her livelihood from storms and heavy floods that our country experiences every year. And through her daily customers, she was also able to save a part of her income and purchase a washing machine for their home. This will help her significantly as this reduces her time doing chores and allow her to focus on caring for her 3 young children while at home.
Even though her eldest is just 10 years old, Jemima is already saving part of her income towards her children’s education and has her mind set on sending them to college. She knows that giving her children good education will help them have more opportunities in the future. Because we believe that education is an integral part of every child’s development and will open more doors for them in the future, supporting mothers like Jemima empowers them to put every effort to securing their children’s future.
