The annual SGVTS anniversary celebration is a big holiday to each of the girls living at the Seng Girls Vocational Training School and Home. During this celebration, the girls play as much as they like and they all have so much fun. It is the happiest days of the year.
This year celebrates our 10th anniversary [established and registered in 2006] and was especially different as it happened on the same day as the Dari county anniversary. It was decided that our school would host this special event together with Dari County. The venue was set up in the beautiful grasslands about an hour’s drive away. One week ahead of the event, the principal, the housekeeper and the Tibetan dance group were busy setting up the tents and doing the preparation on the prairie. Several chefs were busy cooking thousands of buns and lots of delicious food to serve during the celebration. There were always a few children climbing on the window and watching and drooling.
The whole school travelled to the prairie on August 3 and slept in the tents until the event ended. All the girls were ready with their quilts and mattresses waiting for the buses. The girls rushed into the buses with thrilled hearts and excited expectations. the trip took just over an hour and the girls sang the whole way. The road trip was so exciting. The older sisters were already there waiting.
Celebrations lasted for 3 days during which we had wonderful performances from Tibetan singers, horse races and cow races and lots of delicious food. The funniest thing was one lazy cow who refused to run and embarrassed its owner. Our school Tibetan dance group performed. It was a proud time for us all. We had such a wonderful anniversary holiday.
Thank you to our dear sponsors for your great support of the Seng Girls Vocational Training School and Home. It is your love and care that enables us to have these and so many more special memories.
