Sowing Seeds of Character

Our partner 3 Angels Nepal, carried out 23 Hamro Abhiyan Anti-Trafficking Awareness Programs throughout Nepal during the first quarter this year. These programs reached a total of 1,989 students who were all very keen to learn new things regarding human trafficking. Their responses to the program were positive and inspiring.

The principal of one of the schools said, “The school is where young people sow seeds of character. As they learn the importance of basic values and principles such as punctuality, mutual help, and cooperation, they start to develop their sense of duty towards the community they live in.”

“The more they learn, they will become better law abiding citizens. And as they do, they will realize that it is their duty to fight human trafficking through awareness raising in their community. These efforts are crucial in creating longer lasting impact in society by making it a better and safer place for everyone.”

The participants were happy for having the opportunity to learn new things about human trafficking such as how to protect themselves from trafficking and what to do if they ever find themselves in a dangerous situation. The school administration thanked the team for equipping their students with important information and skills.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Over the next couple of months, it is likely we’ll see a surge of human trafficking cases as this current pandemic pushes a lot of vulnerable people into desperate measures. Programs like Hamro Abhiyan help us spread awareness and prevent communities, especially young people, from being further exploited. Your help of USD 525 will fund a Hamro Abhiyan Program in an at-risk school. If you’re a company or school, for USD 10,500 you could co-sponsor a program for an entire region. Reflections from Educators

Many schools have been identified in hot-spot trafficking regions of Nepal. Students from these regions are from poor, lower class families and are considered easier targets by traffickers. When the schools finally reopened after months of lockdown, our dedicated team of experts made a big push to reach out to as many schools and communities possible.
