OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
I majored in engineering and graduated in July 2021 this year. I promised my good friend to be a volunteer teacher with her. She has been at this school for a year now.
I’m teaching fourth grade math. At the beginning, I didn’t know how to teach, but with training and the help of the other school teachers, I can teach skillfully.
What we do is meaningful. The children’s mother tongue is Yi language. Before they came to school, no one at home spoke mandarin at all. Our school now has a preschool class to let the children take some basic education, and after learning Pinyin and arithmetic in the lower grades, the later teaching will be smoother. Through these studies, children broaden their horizons and learn good manners.
I’m very happy to be a volunteer teacher here, the teachers in this team are very good, and there is no lack of food and clothing. Thanks to amazing sponsor support. Although sometimes three classes a day will be a little tiring, to see the progress of children is worth the effort.
In order to prevent these children from dropping out of school in the future, I hope they have good performance and can get the support they need to love studying.
When I first came here, I had some difficulties in communicating with the children. Some children had poor learning foundations, so it took a lot of time to teach them. Thank you for supporting me to be here and teach these children.
Thank you to Zuru for underwriting this project.
