The Pig Farming Program aims to help families boost their income, allowing them to better support their children’s education and well-being. We hope they can earn a profit of CNY 5,000 to 8,000 (USD 700 to 1,120) per year from pig farming, depending on market prices.

One of our recent household visits is Jimu Mofeizuo’s family. She lives in a lively and bustling family of eight composed of her, her 78-year-old mother, her husband, brother, sister, and her three children. All three generations of their family are all under one roof! With all these people combined, the family makes CNY 60,000 or (USD 8,276) a combined salary of her husband, and the profit from their family’s farm.
The family is not new to raising livestock. In their 5 Mu of land (3333 square meters) grows three adult cows and two calves. Since becoming a beneficiary of our program, they have been also raising five pigs, adding CNY 9,000 (USD 1,251) more to their profit. Despite the significant economic pressures, the family is determined to sustain their livelihood and improve their living conditions.

During our visit, we observed a warm and busy atmosphere in Jimu’s home. One could clearly see the care each member has for each other by the way they talk and interact. There is love in the way they treat each other. It’s no surprise that despite their financial hardships, their household stays comfortable.
When we spoke with Jimu, she enthusiastically shared how the two piglets that she received from us had grown from a mere 25 kilograms each, to respectively 80 to 100 kilograms! Even with only two pigs, her eyes shone with hope.
As we left her home, Jimu inspired us through her remarkable resilience, made by a home built with love. It is true that when one has good relationships and a solid support system—anything can be possible.
