My First Job Success!

by Andrew Colquhoun (Co-Founder & CEO Captivating International)

A few weeks ago I had an inspiring trip in Qinghai China and the privilege of spending 3 fantastic hours with some of the girls in the My First Job Assistant Chef training Program. I have some exciting things to share with you.

  1. All 10 girls are going well with their internships;
  2. The original course was to be 6 months cooking training with the chef, but this was changed to 4 months with the chef, and 2 months internship in a restaurant (in the hope this might also help to secure their first job);
  3. Seems it’s working – while being served lunch by four of the girls working at a partner restaurant, the owner announced that he would like to offer all four girls a two year full-time work contract. This was fantastic news.

Drugmojyid CookingI am excited to see the program working well. The girls are happy as are their parents who will no doubt have money being sent home to them by the girls once they start working.

FUNDING:  Next year we hope to expand this program to twenty girls. Already girls are inquiring how they can be on the list. You can find out more about this program at http://captivating.org/projects/my-first-job-program/ If you would like to support one of these girls into their first job and independence, please email daniella@captivating.org

For each girl, this short-term investment has opened up an amazing door for them. They are extremely grateful for the opportunity and said this to me on multiple occasions. Thank you to those who are already behind this program. The impact you have made on these girls is incredible and is literally transforming them.
