Our One Hope Microfinance Program’s (OH) main mission is to protect vulnerable women from the threat of sexual exploitation by providing loans for sustainable micro entrepreneurship. We provide small business loans starting at PHP 6,000. Each client will then be a part of a fellowship group where they must commit to meeting weekly for payment and community building. They can continue borrowing up to PHP 30,000. This way, they have the chance to elevate their living standards and foster positive change in their communities.

Elisa was granted her first loan just last year after a close friend referred her to our program. She immediately expressed how excited she is to be a part of a fellowship made up of fellow mothers like her who are also managing their small businesses.

What does Elisa do? She is a fruit vendor.  Every day, she goes around her community to sell her produce. She mentions a couple of insights that can make you successful in this line of work. Firstly, these products are highly perishable and must be properly managed not to go to waste; and secondly, relationships matter as much as capital. You must build trust with your customers to turn them into regulars. Over time, she was able to build a solid customer base with her good rapport with nearby offices and banks. Now, she has steady sales with her compounded efforts.

Her main inspiration to keep going is to provide for her only daughter, who is graduating from 12th grade soon. With college just around the corner, she understands the importance of saving and preparing for the next stage in her life. She expresses her heartfelt gratitude to our program, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside her as she builds a more stable future for her and her daughter.
