During late February this year, the Captivating Team visited and selected 180 Yi women’s households for our Chicken Farming and Pig Farming Program. Two months later, just in time for Spring, we started the two projects on April 17th and 18th!

On the 17th, we launched the Chicken Farming program in Hongxi Community, Hongxi Town. The following day, the 18th—marks the launch of the Pig Farming Program in Lada Village, Lama Town. With 90 participants in each program, the mornings started with high energy! The program format was as follows:
- Sign ups
- Training proper
- Feed collection
- Livestock distribution
Our team also designed a “staggered group schedule” and enlisted local officials as translators for the smooth exchange of information.

During the training sessions, our experts shared new ways of taking care of livestock. From disinfection to scientifically-backed feed mixing—the women (some of whom have already taken care of livestock in the past) surely learned more efficient ways to maximize their income through working smarter.
The Chicken Farming participants each received 20 chicks to take care of, while the Pig Farming participants took home two piglets. The sparkle we saw in these women’s eyes was priceless. It was the look of hope that made all our team’s early efforts all worthwhile. This was more than just a distribution of materials—it was a solemn handover of skills, confidence, and the promise of a better future for their families.

One Act. Endless Impact.
Captivating International’s mission is to break generational chains of poverty and transform lives by empowering women, educating children, and elevating communities.
