OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
Sonam is part of the Vocational School Scholarship Program (VSS). One of the best things about the VSS project, aside from giving these girls the opportunity for their dreams to come true, is that they also gain experiences in extracurricular activities and make memories they will remember for a long time. Sonam shares her experience with us.
“I am Sonam and I am currently studying Nursing. I am learning a wide range of subjects such as surgery, internal medicine, psychology, physiology, pathology, immunity, basic nursing obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics. I am also learning basic subjects such as English and Mathematics. English is a bit challenging for me because I easily forget the words, but I still strive to learn and remember them better. On the other hand, I like Mathematics very much, in fact it’s my favorite subject. My Math teachers make the lectures fun and interesting.”
“Overall, I think I am doing well in school, being in the middle ranking in the class. I also participate in various activities and competitions such as the Literary Society and College Games; I even joined the running competition this semester and enjoyed it a lot. I am working hard to make my dream come true. Thank you for your support!”
63 other girls, just like Sonam, have started their internships. We are excited to see these girls graduate mid 2020. Thank you to Phyllis M. for sponsoring Sonam through her studies. Our thanks to ZURU for funding 50% of this amazing program.
