The Incredible Progress of Women in the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program
Over the past month since the Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women started, the students have diligently punched in every day.
I am Teacher Tian and there are 39 students in my grade 6 class at Ga Le Au Mu Primary School. I have already been here for 2 semesters and I love it.
We gather together at 5am on the mountain and head off by 6am. We walk until about 9am. This is the first time for me to walk along this mountain road for 3 hours. I have to nothing to say except “tired”. Exercise isn’t my strength. But when I looked into the eyes of the boys in my class, and their desire to play basketball, I couldn’t decline to go. Another school arranged to play a game with my school and the boys were very excited.
The results of the game were not important to me, only to see the joy on the faces of my students. These students have worked hard and it was nearly time for them to graduate primary school. This was a big day for them. I am so proud of the time we’ve had together.
Being able to go to school and get an education is important for the future of these children. They live a very simple and basic life and work very hard to support their daily needs. When they have teachers at school who believe in them and help them see their full potential, it makes all the difference.
WILL YOU HELP US MAKE THE DIFFERENCE?
