OMY: Mose to Become A Doctor
Mose, a bright and determined student, dreams of becoming a doctor after witnessing her illiterate parents face discrimination at a hospital.
72 girls from various remote village locations of Western China are now back in school (and doing well) thanks to generous sponsors and a wonderful support charity called SHAMTSE. Each one of these girls had already dropped prematurely from school due to varying situations with all of them mourning the end of their dream of a higher education. Well, dreams can still come true it would seem.
Thanks to our ever growing sponsorship family, and hard work on the ground by our charity partners, these 72 girls started back in school September 2017 and have been putting in full effort to try and catch-up on lost ground. These girls are our 2nd year intakes in our Vocational School Scholarship (VSS) program in partnership with multiple government subsidized vocational schools who were prepared to give these girls a dream chance. These dreams are coming true. In addition to the standard subjects of English, Chinese and Math, specialized vocational subjects of their choosing are also covered such as medicine, nursing, teaching, computer studies or accounting. The next 3 years will be filled with learning, growing and skill building. It will not be easy and they will be pushed to their maximum capability. However, if they can stick with the program, these girls will graduate with confidence and the ability to work in a career that will provide them with a good income – providing them with a future of security and independence.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE VSS PROGRAM?: We aim to add another 100 girls to the VSS program ready to start their schooling dreams Sept 2018. Searching and selection is about to get started to find girls most in need of help. BUT, their schooling dream can’t proceed without a personal sponsor. If you would like to be the person directly responsible for making a girls dream come true, please contact sponsorship@captivating.org or go to Sponsor a Girl .
