Despite Uncertainties

Xiangdong’s family is particularly poor in the village. His father died when he was only five years old, and his mother no longer contacted them after going out to work in the same year. He and his younger brother were raised by their grandparents.

Aside from the government subsidy, their main source of income is the tea that his grandfather (72) grows on a small piece of land. However, it’s still not enough even just for their grandmother’s (65) yearly medical treatment.

Xiangdong is part of our One More Year school scholarship program. This makes all the difference to him and his family to ensure he stays in school and complete his education.

During summer vacation, Xiangdong helped his grandfather with the farm work so that they can earn and save for his and his brother’s education. Despite the future’s uncertainties, Xiangdong remains to be a diligent child and kindhearted brother and is grateful for the help and support from the One More Year program.

With just ONE MORE YEAR ahead, we hope to continue supporting Xiangdong. Click on the links below to know how you can help.
