Binu Gurung diligently tends to her fish and pig farms every morning. Her business is steadily growing, and she finds great satisfaction in seeing the fruits of her labor. But life hasn’t always been this easy for her. In fact, life looked very different for her just three years ago when the pandemic hit.
Binu’s family faced financial difficulties during that challenging time. Despite her hard work, her small pig farm business wasn’t generating enough income to cover her family’s basic needs.
Then, My Business-My Freedom (MBMF) Nepal stepped in to offer support. With NPR 50,000 (USD 377) loan, Binu initiated a fish farm and expanded her pig business. Another NPR 70,000 (USD 528) loan further fueled her success.
Now, Binu’s pigsty and fish farm are flourishing. She projects earnings of up to NPR 150,000 (USD 1,131) from fish and NPR 200,000 (USD 1,508) from pigs. Looking ahead, Binu plans to expand her farm even further. The MBMF’s assistance has truly transformed her life and improved her family’s lifestyle.
My Business My Freedom Nepal aims to empower women by addressing their poverty directly. This program has the potential to change their lives by putting them in control of their own destinies. We are grateful for the work that our implementing team, 3 Angels Nepal (3AN), has been doing to transform the lives of these women. We believe that until a woman facing extreme poverty receives assistance, the allure of migration remains a high-risk prospect for her. Thus, the MBMF program is one of our prevention strategies for fighting against human trafficking.
Through MBMF’s support, Nepali women like Binu can establish their own businesses and walk the path of continued freedom and autonomy.
