Kapitbahay Sessions (“kapitbahay” is neighbor in English) is our most recent effort, through our field partner Honor 1000 Movement, to not only use the online platform in raising awareness about online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), but also to involve survivors’ voices in the fight against this crime.
Melvin Abundo, our Project Lead for Kapitbahay Sessions, was recently invited to participate in the National Council for Children’s Television’s (NCCT) press conference. NCCT promotes the production and broadcast of developmentally appropriate programs for children in the Philippines. The invitation came after Melvin presented the initial ideas for this newest project to one of the council members of NCCT.
This is a huge opportunity not only to expand the reach of the project, but to promote our advocacy to end OSAEC in the Philippines.
