Giving Back to the Person who Raised Her

Puyuxia, 19, comes from a rural area. She lives with her grandfather who raised her by himself ever since she was a little girl. Puyuxia’s father died in an accident while her mother left them in search of a better life.

“My grandfather raised me under tough conditions. We don’t have any land or cattle to provide for our needs or as a source of income. Since my grandfather is old, he can no longer do intensive work, so we depend mostly on government subsidy.”

After graduating from junior school, Puyuxia decided to discontinue her education and look for a job instead to help lessen her grandfather’s burden and provide for the both of them.

“While working, I experienced being mocked by others. I learned how difficult it is to lead a better life without certain skills, abilities and education. That’s why I really wanted to enter vocational school so I can be trained and find better job opportunities. I wanted to thank my grandpa who worked hard to raise me by providing him a better life.”

Puyuxia started the Vocational School Scholarship program in September 2020 and one of the 277 girls in our program. She is studying Urban Rail Service. Thank you to the amazing support of Zuru who fund 50% of this life-changing program.
