Daughter Works Hard for Sick Mom

Tsering Lumo (18) comes from a large but poor family. Her father and brother provides for the family while she and her sister study and take care of their mother who has been weak because of arthritis and gynecological disease. When her mother’s condition got worse, she had to be hospitalized which all the more increased the family’s financial burden. As such, Tsering decided to drop out of school to make sure her sister could get an education. Her family felt sorry for her but they don’t have the means to support her return to school.

“I never imagined I could return to school one day, so when I received news that I’m offered scholarship, words cannot express how I felt. My family and I really appreciate you.”

Tsering entered the Vocational School Scholarship program in September 2018, taking up Tibetan Medicine. She does well in school and even ranks among the top five in her class.

“Before, I couldn’t even buy my own school supplies. But because of your support, I’m now able to buy things that are necessary for my education such as medical books. I am extremely grateful for your selfless support. You enabled me to study just like all other kids.”

“Four semesters have passed since I entered vocational school and I’ve learned a lot – from issuing prescription medicine to caring for patients. I started my internship in March and I am hoping to become a doctor in the future. This has always been my dream, and my mother will be my first patient.”
